The best way to describe this scotch is honeyed peat. The honey flavors makes is delightfully drinkable, while the smokey peat balances it out and makes it not too sweet. This scotch hails from the orkney islands, which are WAY up north. A great scotch to cut your teeth on, not because it is the easiest to drink, but because it encompasses a wide range of scotch flavors. It has peat, but is not the peatiest; it has sweetness, but is not the sweetest. Pair that with a very reasonable price point (Often goes on sale for $35 USD at my local liquor store), and a modestly respectable 43% alcohol content, you really can’t go wrong.
